This year, the OSU Cowboys are looking quite good for a spot in the NCAA tournament.  The Pokes have been playing great basketball all year, but the victory against number one ranked Kansas seems to have put them over the top. OSU ended the 13-game winning streak of Number One ranked Kansas with an 85-77 win against the Jayhawks!  Brilliant play from James Anderson, Keiton Page & Matt Pilgrim have our Oklahoma Cowboys poised for a shot at the Big Dance in March.

Oklahoma State's diverse collection of 48 team NCAA titles make it 4th in the country! OSU has brought home national titles in wrestling dozens of times, golf ten times, basketball twice, even baseball & cross country once!

OSU Cowboys Men's Wrestling

Oklahoma State wrestling's tradition strikes fear into the hearts of their opponents. When Edward C. Gallagher, whose name is part of Gallagher-Iba Arena, became head coach in 1916, he proceeded to revolutionize the sport by applying his engineering skills. He eventually developed over 400 wrestling holds and expected his OSU wrestlers to learn at least half of them!

Though he had never been involved in wrestling during his high-school and collegiate days, his knowledge of physical principles like leverage, stress and anatomy, gave him the ability to develop new tactics and defenses. He coached the Cowboys until his death in 1940 from pneumonia. During those 24 years, Gallagher had 11 team national titles and 19 undefeated seasons.

At OSU - Academic Success Drives Athletic Success

This summer, Oklahoma State wrestlers Brandon Mason and Newly McSpadden were named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association’s all-academic team and the Cowboys were honored as an all-academic team.

OSU has earned the team honor each of the last six seasons, placing 18th this year with a team grade-point average of 3.0132. Mason earned the individual award for the fourth time in his career and McSpadden was honored individually for the third time.

The OSU Cowboys have accumulated 48 NCAA National Championships over the years, the fourth-most in NCAA history. Only Stanford, USC and UCLA own more national titles. Boone Pickens Stadium, the home of the Cowboys, is evolving into one of America¹s top sports facilities. Visit Stillwater the next time you are shopping for a University.
