Finding fun in Oklahoma is easy when
you know where to look.
Oklahoma Bald Eagle ViewingOklahoma is one of the top 10 states in the nation for winter eagle viewing.
Each winter, as northern lakes freeze over, thousands of bald eagles migrate to
warmer, southern waters. Oklahoma is especially attractive to these magnificent
birds. During severe winters in the north, 750 to 1,500 eagles may gather here.
A small resident population of about 85 bald eagles also lives here year-round. Here's a link to a story about spotting some Bald Eagles on Okmulgee, Oklahoma's Dripping Springs Lake. Another good spot to find Oklahoma Bald Eagles is in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. The Keystone Dam exit is west of Sand Springs about five miles on either Hwy 64/412 or St. Hwy 51. Take exit St. Hwy 151 onto the dam from either highway. Look for “Eagles” signs to the Watchable Wildlife Area. Lake Tenkiller State Park/ Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge Caravan through the refuge observing bald eagles. Stick around the refuge and enjoy afternoon loon watches. Eagle and loon events will occur unless a travel advisory is issued for the area.

Chardonnay ripens easily and produces medium-to-full-bodied wines with rich apple, citrus, and tropical fruit aromas and flavors, but the variety's full body is capable of supporting a host of complementary characteristics, such as oak, butter, and vanilla. 2008 Stratford Peach Festival July 19The 2008 Stratford Peach Festival will be July 19 in Stratford, Oklahoma. Braums makes their peach ice cream using peaches from Stratford, Oklahoma and they serve it at the festival. Porter Peach Festival July 18-19, 2008Porter, Oklahoma Annual festival featuring arts and crafts, games, parade, peach auction, car show, music, food, tractor pull, rodeo, 5k run and golf tournament. Free Canoe Float Trip Tahlequah, OKIllinois River Clean-up July 11, 2008 Check the Current Illinois River Conditions The OSRC and canoe livery operators along the River, with help from Save the Illinois River (STIR) and other local agencies, have sponsored canoe-based trash cleanups two or three times a year, on Fridays following major holidays (Memorial, Independence and Labor Days). Free canoes and trash bags are provided to participants willing to collect trash along an approximately 6-mile stretch of the River. Participants who bring in trash can also register for a drawing for a new canoe, which will be given away during the post-Labor Day cleanup (Sept. 8 this year). The OSRC holds 3 Illinois River Cleanups each summer, scheduled for the
Friday following each of the major holidays - Memorial Day, July 4th, and
Labor Day. To participate in a cleanup, volunteers should contact the
OSRC by the Wednesday prior to the cleanup, at (918) 456-3251, or at
osrc2@fullnet.net. Horse Trails in Arkansas and Oklahoma Wild Game HuntingOne activity the locals here have long appreciated are ODWC Specials Hunts. Hunting of some game in Oklahoma is allowed only through controlled hunts. White tail deer hunts are in November. Elk hunts are held in December. The
hunts are managed cooperatively between the Refuge and the Oklahoma Department
of Wildlife Conservation. Drawings to participate in the hunt are held by the
